ERASMUS + project "Vitalizing ICT relevance in agriculture learning - VIRAL"

Strengthening the faculties of the faculties of agriculture to use, apply and impart new knowledge regarding information and communication technologies in agriculture is the main objective of the Erasmus plus project "Vitalizing ICT Relevance in Agriculture Learning - VIRAL", which will be approved by the European Commission. and Bijeljina University

A consortium of 17 partners will work on the project, mainly faculties from BiH and Montenegro, Slovenia, the Netherlands and Romania, as well as companies from the region that have activities in agriculture and non-governmental organizations. Among them is Wagenigen University, one of the world's leading agricultural and forestry companies.

Bijeljina University is proud of its participation in such a large international project, worth 900,000 euros, which will be managed by the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Banja Luka, in cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. At the same time, one of the strategic goals of Bijeljina University is to be a reliable partner to the economy, and through the Viral project, this connection will be realized.

Representatives of all partners met for the first time in Banja Luka, where on January 21st, 2020. intensively planned project, and on 23.01.2020. An introductory conference on the use of ICT in agriculture was held at the RS Academy of Sciences and Arts, during which some of the leading researchers in this field gave a presentation.

In recent years, the trend has been to bring ICT into all walks of life, and this was a good opportunity to try to introduce this segment into agricultural production as well. The idea is to strengthen the capacities of higher education institutions to develop new knowledge and to pass it on to the beneficiaries in the agricultural sector, as well as to strengthen the position of agricultural students - says project coordinator Miljan Cvetković from the Faculty of Agriculture in Banja Luka, adding that the aim is to make other participants in agriculture encourage the sector to start introducing ICT into their production.
