Establishment and work of the Library Bijeljina University

The library was founded in 2007 as part of the College of Health Care.
For some time, the Library worked in modest conditions, in a room of 24 m2, until 2018, when it was moved to a new room on the ground floor of the University building.
Although modest with only 1336 library units, in paper form, the library within the University encouraged the spread of knowledge and the development of science. With its collections of domestic monographic publications, it has enabled the fulfillment of tasks, goals and curricula of teaching and scientific work at the University, and through library services they meet the information needs of students.

Today, the University Library is a true example of a higher education library with the task of serving as a support to the teaching and scientific process that takes place at the University of Bijeljina in five study programs and is a scientific research unit of all organizational units of the University. Its task is to meet the needs of users, primarily students, teachers, associates of the University, but its publications can be used by all other users, in accordance with the provisions of the Rules of Procedure of the Library
University of Bijeljina.

In order to optimally meet the needs of its users, the library replenishes the funds, following the principles of long-term purchasing policy, monograph, serial, audio-visual, electronic and all other types of publications, performs reception, inventory, cataloging, classification, storage and protection, giving use of library materials , providing information, forming and keeping a deposit fund of publications on all media, published by the University, as well as all other library affairs.

In 2020, funds are planned for replenishing the Library's funds and protecting publications. Funds are also needed for the arrangement of the premises and the reading room and the necessary technical and other equipment, on which the functioning, ie the work of the library largely depends.

In addition to the existing exchange of books and magazines, we plan to establish an exchange with a larger number of libraries from the area, which will result in a larger number of publications. For the deposit fund of the library, which will consist of all publications published by the University, one copy of each title will be obtained, permanently kept and that fund will not be issued to users. We will also try to fill this fund with publications that were published in previous years, and at the same time expand to the publications of our teachers and associates that were published by other publishers. All acquired publications are inventoried, signed and determined complete bibliographic records for the electronic database of the library.

The library now occupies an area of ​​over 50m2.
The space is beautifully decorated, sunny, and attracts the attention of both students and all visitors to the University.
For University students, the library organizes its work in a six-day working week, ie for all library users, it organizes 45 hours of work with users in the funds, while the reading room is available to users for 70 hours during the working week.

The National Library of Serbia regularly donates a number of library units to the library of the University of Bijeljina.

In addition to the rooms for storing the fund in free access, the library also has a reading room. The reading room has 30 seats and one computer. In order to fully meet the needs of students, a copier is provided, which is available to all users. In addition to providing the necessary support to the teaching process by the type and scope of library materials, the University Library provides support to scientific research work in the field from which study programs are conducted.

University library material consists of:

• examples of required literature;
• examples of additional literature and
• reference collection - dictionaries, manuals, encyclopedias and the like.

The collections of library units of obligatory and additional literature consist of reference domestic and foreign, professional and scientific literature in printed and / or electronic form, which with the content supports the curriculum and realization of the study program with adequate representation of literature from narrow subjects in the study program.

The activity of the Library of the University "Bijeljina" is regulated by:
