Quality assurance

 

The Bijeljina University conducts a procedure of self-evaluation and assessment of the quality of teaching and working conditions at the end of each academic year, and at most at intervals of three academic years. The University Quality Assurance Commission, established by the University Senate, is responsible for the self-evaluation process, continuous monitoring, quality assurance and improvement. The Quality Assurance Commission is chaired by the Rector of the University, and consists of members of the academic staff who have experience in working on quality assurance issues and come from various organizational units of the University.

The commission consists of representatives of students and external partners. The Commission should prepare strategies and policies of the University in the field of quality assurance and form proposals to the University Senate for final adoption. The Commission has the task of making short-term and long-term quality improvement plans.

The Commission is assisted in its work by:

  • the Quality Coordinator within the University,
  • the Quality Assurance Committee, which provides administrative and technical support in the work on quality assurance,
  • the Quality Assurance Coordinators at the organizational units of the University.

The University Senate determines the procedures for approval, regular supervision and periodic reviews of programs and thus ensures their continuous value. The university ensures the participation of students in quality assurance procedures, as well as consultations with employers, workers' representatives and other partners.

Student participation is part of regular supervision, and includes the evaluation of lectures, programs and professors and their teaching abilities by students, as well as consultations with student organizations and student representatives in academic bodies. Consultations with partners are part of the periodic review of study programs and awarding of diplomas, and include all partners: former students, employers, trade unions, authorities, local representatives, etc.

The University Senate determines detailed guidelines, criteria, standards and procedure for internal quality assurance by a special act. The role, responsibilities and competencies of bodies in the field of quality assurance, the procedure of self-evaluation and quality assessment as well as other issues of importance for quality improvement and development are regulated by the Rulebook on Quality Assurance issued by the University Senate.
